Brooklyn-based Via Audio formed in 2003, but it wasn’t until last year that I fell in love with their 2007 album Say Something. The group has close ties to Spoon drummer Jim Eno, who produced their latest album Animalore in Austin, Texas. The band’s Web site describes it as “a pop-up book for adults, bursting with vivid colors and secret corridors at the turn of every page.” You can listen to their first single from the album here : http://viaaudio.net/temp/viaaudio/VIAAUDIO_ANIMALORE/Via_Audio_Babies_Animalore_2010.mp3
Thank you Cory, for the recommendation. Now I can listen to it as many times as I want. No matter what Jonathan says.
A little more.
Three years ago I took a trip to Austin and simultaneously fell in love with the Shout Out Louds. The following August I picked up a copy of Magnet magazine and was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The five-piece Stockholm-based band is the epitome of collaborative creativity. See for yourself here :

Two Door Cinema Club is another jewel I picked up on from self-titled, a digital magazine I started following a while back. The band is currently on tour with Phoenix (and I’m secretly sick to my stomach thinking the same may have been true with they toured through Omaha). Alas, self-titled describes the sound as “buoyant and kinetic pop” and RIYL “French pop with a side of cowbell; Death Cab For Cutie’s “Soul Meets Body” (lead singer Alex Trimble does have a Ben Gibbard in a good mood-quality); Getting into a band four albums before everyone else.”
For the win.
There’s something about this photo of Ethan and Alice that I’ve always loved.
Now someone has decided to place it someplace just right.I love this blog. My friend James recently introduced me to Crystal Castles, a band out of Ontario. I was pleasantly surprised to see an original image from their (self-titled) album pass through the same week.
Headlights released So Much For the Afternoon on their 2008 album Some Racing, Some Stopping. This version is from their Remixes album, released later that year.
